The Beginning (1946)

Arriving at Longbow Lake

In 1946, George and Lillian Redden, along with Mary and Walter Redden and Walter's sister Wanda, arrived at Longbow Lake from Northern Alberta. The land, purchased from Charlie Stokes, held promise despite its rocky and bushy terrain.

Starting with humble cabins and limited facilities, the Redden family worked tirelessly to build a thriving camp — transporting lumber and ice, multiplying their cabins one by one, and eventually shaping a store and a community.

The Evolution

From humble cabins to a thriving community, Redden's footprint has grown while its heart remains unchanged.

COMMUNITY

A Community Took Shape

As Longbow Lake's population grew, so did the community around Redden's. Amenities like a Post Office and a firehall were added — all achieved through voluntary efforts. The family worked alongside their neighbours to make Longbow Lake what it is today.

The Legacy Continues

The family business, once in the capable hands of Lorne and Pat — along with their children Kelly, Leanne, and Karen — has been passed down to Leanne and Carlton. The Redden family's legacy stretches through generations, with each member contributing to various professions and endeavours across the country. As we celebrate over 75 years, we are grateful for the wonderful friends we've made and the privilege of witnessing Longbow Lake evolve into a vibrant community.
